Director Dibakar Bannerjee's next venture Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! may soon be heading for trouble. The film, as is known, is based on a con man Lucky, played by actor Abhay Deol in the movie. But it seems that an actual conman, has claimed that the film is based on his life.
The conman and thief is currently serving term at one of the capital's jails. He is called Devendra Singh or Bunty. He is believed to have sent a letter to the film's producers UTV, and asked for a hefty compensation, claiming that the film is based on his life. If the production house does not pay up, he has threatened to stall the film's release. The director, however, claims that even though he met Bunty, the film is not based on his life. He met many other thieves along with Bunty while he was researching for the film and, hence, the story and the leading protagonist are both a matter of fiction, as they are not based on any one particular person or incident. As matters stand now, the producers are ready to meet Bunty and clear his doubts about the film's story. They are willing to take recourse to legal action if Bunty tries to halt the film's release. Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! also stars Paresh Rawal in a never before triple role and Neetu Chandra.
